Quiz 1 - EXAM STRESS

Quiz 1

Exam Stress
Stress is a natural part of being human. It changes how your body works and puts your mind into different moods. When you’re getting a bit stressed about an exam – it just means that you really care about the result you will get. That can be a good thing if it pushes into working extra hard as you try to get a good score. But it can be bad if you get too worried and the effects of the stress stop you doing well.

When exams get too much, the stress can show in your body. You could be showing signs of stress if you’re feeling tired, ache all over, cry and feel sad, have panic attacks, have broken sleep, suffer from stomach upsets, have itchy skin rashes, and are more likely to get colds and the ‘flu’.

Some tips for dealing with stress are to get plenty of sleep and try to keep your sleep routine as regular as possible. While studying, take breaks. This keeps you fresher for longer, so you will learn more. Also, try to leave enough time in your studies for some fun; it is easier to stay in a good mood. Remember to be realistic and try not to do too much work each day. If you overdo it, you won’t take in the facts you’re reviewing.

How you behave in your private life is important too. Try to eat properly and make sure your diet includes plenty of fruits and vegetables. Drink juice or water and avoid too much tea or coffee. Get some exercise. It’s a fantastic stress fighter and you will feel more relaxed. A healthy state of mind is also important, so be positive and don’t beat yourself up about things, just chill out! If you are starting to get stressed, take a bit of time to breathe deeply, tell yourself how well you are doing, remind yourself that everything is going to turn out alright, and stand up straight and smile. You will feel better straight away.

When you see a question you can’t answer, don’t panic! Just sit back, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to calm yourself. Try to relax and, when you are ready, read the question again or move on to the next one. Remember, it’s better to write something down than nothing at all!
